The krewes purpose is to promote friendship and community awareness through activities of volunteering, parading, events and fundraising in Galveston County. At Krewe of Les Minous, we believe that building a strong and supportive environment is key to our success.

Membership Benefits

Your membership with Krewe of Les Minous and L'Purrs includes a variety of fun and exciting events, fun parties, practices and community volunteering. Parades! Don't forget the parades! It also includes the opportunity to connect with other like-minded women. Plus, you'll be supporting a community of passionate, eager dance enthusiasts that love the Mardi Gras culture.

Krewe of Les Minous Requirements

Membership (Please read all carefully)

Annual Dues:

$130 - due by August 31st.

Age Requirement:

35 +

Join Our Krewe - "It's the Cat's Meow!"

We strive to represent diversity and promote sisterhood among dance enthusiasts. Our season begins in August and runs through the following spring. You would be an ideal new member candidate if you:

Find joy in dancing
Enjoy sisterhood activities with a large group of women
Have the financial resources to pay for annual membership dues and costume components
Are available once a week for regularly-scheduled, mandatory practice and one mandatory practice
Have flexible evening and weekend schedules for parades and community events
Have the stamina to dance for up to two hours at a time (approximately five to ten miles) during Mardi Gras parades
Have an easy-going attitude to embrace the dynamic nature of parades and special events

Costumes - Our Uniform

Black and Red are our krewe colors.

Required pieces:

Black Corset
Black Leggings
Black sequin shorts/skorts
Black fishnet tights
Top Hat & Beret, Red or Black
Black, short combat boots
Black sheer under shirt
Black and Red Bustle
Red belt
Red bow ties OR combination of Black & Red
Wigs and other accessories (optional)
Required Krewe T-Shirt (comes with membership)

Guidelines and Expectations

GUIDELINES:

Come to practice. Learning the routines is our most important objective.
Meet the Krewe; make new friends.
Respect and understand we are a team and as a team member, have consideration for your fellow members and keep the interests of the Krewe at heart.
Respect and support the choreographers and/or anyone that assistants them; they really have the Krewe's best interest in mind.
Smile more than you want to.
Begin now to work on your endurance. Aquarius and Momus are long parades.

EXPECTATIONS:

Put forth 100% effort, energy and enthusiasm; remember, your Krewe counts on you.
Be prepared for a minimum of 8 practices beginning September through January.
***exceptions will be reviewed case by case.
Be prepared for 2 mandatory practices for Mardi Gras. You will be expected to attend 1 of these practices.
Respect everyone’s time. Be punctual. Practice will start on time.

Benefits of Joining L’Purrs:

Networking. Krewe of Les Minous is a spectacular group of multi-talented women from different backgrounds and experiences, and joining our organization as a L’Purr is a wonderful way to meet new people.
Socialize. Come have fun with us! Decorate throws at Bead Parties, socialize at a Les Minous happy hour, or take advantage of a number of other social opportunities!
Service. We provide various fun opportunities to give back to our Galveston County Community year round.
Feel the Excitement: Experience Mardi Gras in a whole new way. There’s nothing like marching down The Strand in a Mardi Gras parade.

Requirements

Thank you for your interest in becoming a L’Purr with the Krewe of Les Minous! L’Purrs are the amazing men and women who march with the Les Minous, offering support on the various parade routes, for crowd control, carrying our banners and props, passing out our signature throws, helping with production, interacting with the crowd and so much more fun through the year!
